🌹 DIY: Bath Bombs Roses
The basic recipe for making your own bath bombs consists of a mix of baking soda, citric acid and water. You can also add many other ingredients to this. Especially for Valentijn I made a rose variant of it! Super original as a gift, but of course also great to enjoy yourself!
EQUIPMENT (for a large bath bomb)
OTHER NEEDS
A mixing bowl, the shape or mold in which you want to make your bath bomb and a plate or shelf to finally dry your bath bombs.
PREPARATION
- Place the baking soda and citric acid in a mixing bowl and mix together. đź’ˇ TIP: Remove a little bit of this mixture from the bowl and set aside. You can use this later if your mixture gets a little too wet.
- Spray the rose water on the mixture little by little and keep kneading with your hands. đź’ˇ TIP: Working slowly is important with this step! If you add too much rose water too quickly, the mixture will foam. As soon as this happens, immediately knead the mixture well and possibly use some baking soda / citric acid mix that you have set aside. Adding some 'powder' will reduce foaming.
- Keep adding rose water until your mixture feels like "wet sand." If you can squeeze it with one hand and grab it with your other hand without it breaking or falling apart, the mixture is ready.
- Fill one half of your bath bomb mold with dried rose petals first and top up with the mixture. Then do the same with the other half of the bath bomb mold. Preferably fill the halves to just over the edge and press well.
- Press both halves together firmly. Then hold one half and gently twist the other half, so that one of the halves separates from the bath bomb.
- Remove one half of the bath bomb and then remove the bath bomb from the other half of the mould.
- Allow the bath bomb to harden for a while, until it is dry and hard. Depending on the size of your bath bomb, this could take several hours. If you want to take a bath earlier, this is of course possible, although the bath bomb may fall apart faster.
TIPS & TRICKS

đź’ˇ TIP: If you have the delicious essential oil of Rozen, you can of course also add it. Then first mix 3 to 5 drops of essential oil with 10 ml of carrier oil (for example, fractionated coconut oil ) and mix this through the baking soda / citric acid mixture. Then add some more rose water if necessary, until your mixture feels like 'wet sand'.
đź’ˇ DID YOU KNOW THAT: By first mixing the essential oil with a carrier oil, these are diluted. As soon as the baking soda and citric acid dissolve in your bath, the essential oils remain diluted instead of coming into direct contact with your skin, which has already become slightly more sensitive due to the heat of your bath.
* đź’ˇ NOTE: Adjust the number of drops of essential oil to be used to the person taking a bath. For example, fewer drops are advised for children and pregnant women, among others.
